Challenges of TEPCO

The Green Power Program forms part of TEPCO's efforts to promote the spread of new energy. In conjunction with the Green Power Fund, which is made up of donations from the Company and its customers, we introduced the Green Power Certification System in 2000 to support the use of natural energy by corporations and customer groups.

The Green Power Fund is managed by the Greater-Kanto Industrial Advancement Center (GIAC). Formed from donations from customers interested in new energy and environmental issues, the fund assists efforts in photovoltaic and windmill power generation. TEPCO actively supports the fund by not only matching customer contributions, but also by accepting applications on behalf of the fund. As of October 2004, TEPCO donated ¥360 million. Since its inception, the fund has assisted natural energy facilities on 111 occasions.
