TEPCO: Kashiwazaki Kariwa Nuclear Power Station / State of the power station after the 2007 Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake

<How the power station handled the situation immediately after the quake>
Due to the 2007 Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake, the administration building suffered damage including the toppling of cabinets, fixture and furniture, falling of fluorescent lamps, cracking and breaking of glassware.
The personnel present at the power station at that time and those showed up after the earthquake gathered outside the administration building to cope with the situation, notifying the authorities and organizations concerned of the situation and checking the damage to the power station.

Emergency Response Room
After taking these actions, the headquarters was moved to the Emergency Response Room in the administration building, which had been recovered and judged to be safe.
Currently, the Emergency Response Room forms the center of activities of checking the damage.
<Conditions of the Facilities>
Visual inspection of components housed in the primary containment vessel that accommodates important facilities (some of the components are shown in the photos in the right.) has not revealed damage.
Similarly, visual inspection of safety important components that belong to seismic classes As and A has not revealed damage.

On the other hand, other non-safety important facilities suffered damage from the earthquake.
