A Small Fire Occurred on the Roof (Uncontrolled Area) of the Reactor Combination Building of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station Unit 1
At around 10:48am, today, a cooperating company worker found a small fire 
from an electrical cable of the makeshift air-conditioner located on the 
roof of the reactor combination building of the Unit 1 (BWR, Output: 1,100MW), 
the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station.  The worker initiated a fire 
fighting action immediately by using a fire extinguisher and, at 10:51am, 
the event was reported to the local fire department.  The department has 
confirmed its extinction at 11:26am.  There were no injuries and no releases 
of radioactive materials to the environment.
We will investigate the cause.  The unit 1 is now under the 15th regular 
inspection.
