Press Release (May 13,2011)
Commencement of a preparation work for the installation of a cover for the reactor building of Unit 1, Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station
In accordance with "Roadmap towards Restoration from the Accident at
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station" published on April 17th, 2011, we
will commence a preparation work from May 13th for the installation of a
cover for the reactor building of Unit 1, Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power
Station to prevent the diffusion of radioactive substances.

This cover for the reactor building will be installed as an emergency
measure to prevent the diffusion of radioactive substances until
mid-to-long term measures including radiation shielding are implemented.
In the installation work of the cover, moreover, we are now considering
utilizing crawler cranes (i.e. large heavy machineries) in order to
minimize the exposure dose of the workers and shorten the work period.
Prior to the installation work of the cover for the reactor building, we
have decided to commence the preparation work from May 13th, including
flattening the ground to bring crawler cranes into the site.

■ Schedule
We plan to start the installation of the cover for the reactor building
 from June.
