Press Release (Oct 31,2011)
Plant Status of Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station (as of 3:00 pm, October 31)

On March 11 2011, turbines and reactors of Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power
Station Units 1 to 4 (Boiling Water Reactors, rated output 1,100
Megawatts) that we had been constantly operating at rated thermal output
were automatically shut down at 2:48 pm due to the Tohoku-Chihou-
Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake.
                                       (previously announced on March 11)

At 7:15 am on March 15, the reactor of Unit 4 achieved cold shutdown. As
a result, all reactors of Units 1 to 4 at Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power
Station achieved cold shutdown.
                                       (previously announced on March 15)

As of 3:00 pm on October 30, the reactors of Units 1 to 4 are in cold
shutdown (please refer to the appendix). We will continue to make our
endeavors to further stabilize each plant of cold shutdown.
The underlined parts are the updates from the previous press release
Resumption of installation construction of shake-control facility to the
exhaust stack.
- We have suspended the installation construction of shake-control
facility* to the exhaust stack which had been implemented since
November 2010, because member to fix a tower crane for construction was
damaged due to the Tohoku-chihou Pacific Coast Earthquake occurred on
March 11, 2011, causing fatal accident inside the operation room of the
  tower crane.
- As replacing the main body of tower crane which fixed member was
damaged and restarting construction of shake-control facility to the
exhaust stack, we conducted measures for safety listed below not to
damage on facilities and workers even if the similar sized earthquake
  of the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyo-Oki Earthquake occurred.
  · Reduce movement at the top of tower crane and operating room by
taking down the connecting position of tower crane and exhausting stack.
  · Reinforcement of fixed member (size up of the cross-section of the
fixed member) at the leg of the tower crane jib.
  · Improving safety by setting seatbelt in the operating room.
- We carried-in the heavy machinery for replacement of main body of tower
crane and restarted this construction from today. (work period: will be
  completed by January 2013 )

*Shake-control facility
The equipment (shake-control oil damper) which is installed between the
tower for supporting exhaust stack and its main body to reduce earthquake-
 induced vibration
