Addition of Areas Subject to Compensation for Damages to the Tourism Industries Caused by Harmful Rumors

We deeply apologize to the people of Fukushima and broader society for the tremendous inconvenience and anxiety caused by the accident at Fukushima Daiichi and Daini Nuclear Power Stations (hereinafter "the accident").

We are currently in the process of providing swift and accurate compensation payouts to those afflicted by the accident based on the Nuclear Damage Compensation System including the Nuclear Damage Liability Facilitation Fund Law. The following will be added to the areas subject to compensation for damages such as decreased sales (which are considered to be related to the accident) to the tourism industries caused by harmful rumors.

1. Eligibility for compensation
Business entities or private business owners who operate business in the tourism industries (provide services to tourists) and have the place of business in Marumori Town, Miyagi Prefecture.

2. Compensation period
The compensation will cover damages inflicted on and after March 11, 2011. The termination of the compensation period is to be announced.

3. Compensation amount calculation
The loss of income is calculated by the following method.

[Loss of income calculation]
Sales amount (of the target place of business) x profit margins x (Sales decrease rate-Sales decrease rate related to factors other than the accident)

The sales decrease rate related to factors other than the accident can be selected from the below ((1) or (2)) by those afflicted by the accident.

4. Dispatch and acceptance of application forms
Applications "Tourism industry A" will be sent out today (the acceptance of application forms start on the same day). In order to apply for compensation, please contact the "Fukushima Nuclear Compensation Office (Call Center)" below.
