Press Release (Mar 29, 2013)Resubmission of the Progress Report (Interim Report) on the Restoration Completion at Unit 2 and Submission of a Revised Restoration Plan in Accordance with the Nuclear Operator Emergency Action Plan for Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station (Revision 4)

At Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Station, the restoration of the equipment/facilities necessary for maintaining cold shutdown* is ongoing in accordance with the restoration plan developed based on the Nuclear Operator Emergency Action Plan.

On November 21, 2012, a revised restoration plan (revision 3) with updates on the restoration completion at Unit 3 incorporated was submitted to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, the governor of Fukushima Prefecture and the mayors of Naraha Town and Tomioka Town.

As the restoration of the equipment/facilities necessary for maintaining cold shutdown was completed at Unit 2, a progress report on the restoration plan including the updates was submitted to the Prime Minister, the Nuclear Regulation Authority, the governor of Fukushima Prefecture and the mayors of Naraha Town and Tomioka Town.

Though the restoration completion of Unit 1 was initially planned in the second half of FY2012 based on the original restoration plan, the liner attached on the inside of the piping of the residual heat removal system cooling seawater system (system B) (which is subject to restoration) was found to have come off which needs to be repaired.

(Previously announced on March 6, 2013)

Unit 1 residual heat removal system cooling seawater system will be restored once the liner is repaired and function check and internal voluntary inspection will then be performed. Due to this, the restoration completion of Unit 1 was changed to the first half of FY2013. A revised restoration plan (revision 4) has been submitted to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, the governor of Fukushima Prefecture and the mayors of Naraha Town and Tomioka Town.

Also, the progress report (interim report) on the restoration completion at Unit 2 has been partially corrected and resubmitted to the Prime Minister, the Nuclear Regulation Authority, the governor of Fukushima Prefecture and the mayors of Naraha Town and Tomioka Town today.
