Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Apr 22, 2013)Temporary Suspension of Unit 2 Spent Fuel Pool Alternative Cooling System at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

At around 10:13 AM today, a TEPCO employee on patrol found a dead mouse near the terminal of the outdoor transformer for Unit 2 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

In order to remove the dead mouse and perform an inspection of the transformer, Unit 2 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system primary system was suspended at 11:36 AM. The suspension is planned to continue for 3 to 4 hours.

The water temperature of Unit 2 spent fuel pool when the cooling was suspended was 13.9℃ and the temperature increase rate is estimated to be 0.187℃/h. There will be no problem with the spent fuel pool water temperature control considering that there is a sufficient margin to the maximum allowed temperature (65℃).
