Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (May 04, 2013)Highly Radioactive Debris Found During the Debris Removal (via Radio Based Heavy Machinery Operation) from the Upper Part of Unit 3 Reactor Building at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

At Unit 3, debris removal from the north side of the operation floor in the upper part of the Reactor Building is ongoing.

Today, while loading the debris removed onto the truck (radio based) used for transporting highly radioactive debris located in the west side of the Reactor Building, debris with high radiation dose (approx. 540mSv/h) was found.

Due to this, the entry into the surrounding area of the truck was restricted at 1:45 PM today.

The incident has no impact on workers and the future debris removal work. No significant change has been found with the monitoring post readings.

The information on the treatment of the highly radioactive debris found, etc. is to be announced.
