Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Aug 23, 2013)Completion of Installation of the Well Point at the East Side of Unit 1, 2 Turbine Building in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

This is follow-up information on the latest situation concerning the detection of high densities of Tritium and Strontium in the observation hole at the east side of the Unit 1-4 Turbine Buildings of Fukushima Daiichi NPS.

Since August 15, we have been pumping up groundwater from the well point (pumping facility using a vacuum) installed east of Units 1 and 2 Turbine Buildings and have been transferring the pumped-up groundwater to the Unit 2 vertical shaft C. Last night (August 22), installation of 28 locations of all well points was completed. Groundwater is being pumped up from total 28 well points and is being transferred to the Unit 2 vertical shaft C since 8:20 AM today (August 23).

Since 11:35 AM on August 15, pumping up of groundwater started at 1 well point.
Since 11:10 AM on August 16, pumping up of groundwater started at 13 well points.
Since 11:05 AM on August 17, pumping up of groundwater started at 22 well points.
Since 9:00 AM on August 18, pumping up of groundwater started at 23 well points.
Since 2:10 PM on August 21, pumping up of groundwater started at 24 well points.
