Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Sep 27, 2013)Water Found Dropping from the Exit Valves of the Tank A7 and A9 on the Sea Side of Unit 5 and 6 (Follow-up Information)

This is follow-up information on the water dropping near the exit valve of the tank A7 and A9 during a patrol of the F tank area (north of Unit 6).

No contamination was found in the dropping water near the exit valve of the tank A7, as we analyzed it by the smear method (*1).

In addition, installation of a container to receive the dropping water near the exit valve of the tank A7 and A9 was completed.

We will start the detailed site investigation from today's morning with the heat reserving material having pulled out from around the exit valve of the tank A7 and A9.

*1 Smear method: Method to evaluate the extent of contamination by measuring radioactive materials attached to filter paper or dust cloth which was used to wipe the surface of the object (usually 100cm2).
