In November, 2005, TEPCO acquired a 14% share in the Paiton I Project which comprises a 1,230MW coal-fired plant located within the Paiton complex, about 150 km southeast of Surabaya, eastern Java. In addition, in January, 2006, TEPCO also purchased a 15% stake in the Paiton operation and maintenance (O&M) company. Participation in this established project has been deemed an attractive investment opportunity because of the stable returns to be expected from the long term PPA with PLN.
