1.Regarding Planned Blackouts

We will continue to maintenance sound operations and maintenance of our electricity facilities. In case of implementation of planned blackouts, we will execute in the following manner.


1.Frequency of Blackouts. Time

- Once a day frequency of blackouts per group -
- Approximate 2-hour blackout period per group per day -
- Planned blackout timeslot from 9:30 am - 8:00pm -
* We will continue with the present "Daily Rotating Blackout System " (daily fluctuation of blackout periods)
* Starting and ending time of blackout periods may differ.

Blackout Period

  • Time slot No 1 : approximately 2 hours between 9:30 am - 12:10 pm
  • Time slot No 2 : approximately 2 hours between 11:30 am - 2:10 pm
  • Time slot No 3 : approximately 2 hours between 1:30 pm - 4:10 pm
  • Time slot No 4 : approximately 2 hours between 3:30 pm - 6:10 pm
  • Time slot No 5 : approximately 2 hours between 5:30 pm -8:00 pm

2.Coverage of Planned Blackouts

Coverage of planned blackouts is based on the following considerations.


  1. (1) Full consideration is given to medical institutions involved in the urgent and direct care of human lives.
  2. (2) In principle, devastated areas will be exempt from planned blackouts.
  3. (3) In accordance with government remarks, Tokyo's 23 wards will be exempt from planned blackouts.
  4. (4) Customers who were not subjected to planned blackouts in March 2011 due to electricity being supplied through the same transmission lines as railroad and medical organizations (originally exempt from planned blackouts), will from now on be subjected to planned blackouts to the extent that it is technically feasible.

2.Groups for Planned Blackouts

No group change from the informed group division in your monthly electricity bill.


3.Specific Methods for Confirming Planned Blackouts Groups


1.Low-voltage Electricity Customers (Residential Users etc.)

You can search your group for planned blackouts by your address on TEPCO website. You can search your exact group by your customer ID in case you find some group in the above manner.

  • * By inputting your customer address per each prefectural and city governments, municipality, town name and blocks, your group will be displayed.
  • * If multiple groups are displayed, you can identify your group by inputting your customer number, which can be found in the your notice of electricity consumption.

  • * As we are able to secure a reliable supply of electricity for the time being, we will terminate planned blackouts schedule on the website and group division for planned blackouts on your monthly electricity bill at the end of September 2011.

2.High voltage customers whose contract capacity is below 500kW

You can confirm by yourself same as low-voltage users such as residential customers.


3.Customers whose contract capacity exceeds 500kW

We will inform individually.


4. Points to Consider

  • Regarding this recent group division announcement, coverage is set based on designated residential unit areas. Hence, even if your group falls under a designated area, there is a possibility that it may not be subject to planned blackouts.
  • In principle, for those customers whose group is not displayed, planned blackouts will not be implemented. However, in case planned blackouts are implemented due to the revision of supply routes etc, a separate notification will be provided.
  • Customers receiving electricity from Power Producers and Suppliers will be subjected to planned blackouts.
  • In the event that we are forced to implement an unplanned blackout, relevant precautions and other vital information will be provided here.
