Requirements from the New Regulatory Requirements
Volcanoes around the power station that could possibly affect the facilities should be selected.
Safety functions should not be impaired by the impact of volcanic eruptions around the power station.
Actions taken at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station
Out of the 81 volcanoes present in the vicinity of the power station, 32 were selected as volcanoes that could affect the facilities
 and their impacts were assessed.
By assessing the distance between a volcano and the power station and the effect of ash fall, it was confirmed that
 the safety of the power station will not be affected even if the volcano erupts.
Preparations were made to clean and replace clogged filters for ventilation systems.
