Unit No.5 of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station suspended operation for replacing the eroded water pipe.

October 12, 2004

Tokyo----Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) announced that TEPCO has begun the process of shutting down the No. 5 reactor at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power station (rated output: 784MW) at 6:00pm on October 12.
The suspension of the reactor is due to the acceptance of the propose by Fukushima Prefecture to replace the eroded water pipe. This replacement will be planned for about a week.
