Nonconformances Found in the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (September 20th)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works (from September 
16th to October 13th, 2007) and non-conformance at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear 
Power Station after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake.

1. Inspection/Restoration Status
○Inspection and restoration completed between September 14th to 20th, 2007
  • Unit No.1 Reactor building ceiling crane inspection: 
     Inspection completed on September 18th.
  • Unit No.1 and 3 Main exhaust ducts inspection preparation: 
     Inspection completed on September 14th.
  • Unit No.3 Reactor building ceiling crane inspection: 
     Inspection completed on September 14th.
  • Unit No.2, 4 and 5 main exhaust duct (outdoor parts) inspection: 
     Inspection completed on September 14th.
  • Transformer oil protection bank survey and inspection: 
     Temporary restoration to be completed on September 20th.

○Inspection to be commenced between September 21st to 27th, 2007.
  • Unit No.6 Refueling machine inspection
  • Unit No.6 House transformers preparation for transportation into the factory

○Work Schedule for Major Inspection/Restoration from September 16th

2. Nonconformances Found in the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed 
   after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake

   Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the 
   Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki 
   Earthquake", the Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides 
   this announcement containing incidents information reported from September 13th 
   to 19th, 2007 and the occurrence status of nonconformances (that have been 
   deliberated) reported from September 6th to 12th, 2007.

○Incidents Information (relating to the Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake)
<Reports from September 13th to 19th, 2007>
* The total number of injured persons at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa site after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (since August 10th, 2007) is listed on "○ Other Findings" mentioned below. ○Information on Nonconformances (those related to: the Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake; Grades As, A, B, C, and D; and non-graded)
○Other Findings • Inspection of the unit 1 main exhaust duct (above ground part) confirmed 2 cracks (about 1cm up-stream of the connector and about 40cm down-stream of the connector). No external impact from radioactivity since no radioactive material has been detected from either crack with surface contamination monitoring. Temporary repair has been implemented for both cracks by Sept. 11th (announced on Sept. 11th). • Total number of injured persons at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa site since August 10th, 2007: 1 (no radiation exposure)
