FY 2007 Interim Financial Results

of the previous year to 2,677.1 billion yen (non-consolidated figure increased
2.7% to 2,549.1 billion yen). The ordinary income decreased 25.5% from the same
term of the previous year to 213.9 billion yen (non-consolidated figure decreased
24.5% to 185.9 billion yen). Due to the extraordinary loss of 175.1 billion yen
(non-consolidated figure is 172.9 billion yen) resulting from the current estimate
of the inspection and restoration costs of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power
Station hit by the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake, the interim net income decreased
88.0% from the same term of the previous year to 21.2 billion yen (non-consolidated
figure decreased 95.8% to 6.3 billion yen).

Our total electricity sales increased 2.3% from the same term of the previous year
to 148.0 billion kWh due to the increase in the large industrial power sector and
the increase in air-conditioning demand caused by the heat wave of the last summer.
By type of demand, electricity sales for residential use increased 1.5% from the
same term of the previous year to 45.5 billion kWh, low-voltage power in the
non-liberalized sector decreased 1.0% from the same term of the previous year to
6.7 billion kWh, and electricity sales to specific-scale demand increased 2.9% from
the same term of the previous year to 95.8 billion kWh.

On the revenue side, the electricity revenues increased 2.9% from the same term of
the previous year to 2,402.7 billion yen due to the increase in electricity sales.
The operating revenues increased 2.8% from the same term of the previous year to
2,677.1 billion yen (non-consolidated figure increased 2.7% from the same term of
the previous year to 2,549.1 billion yen) after adding intercompany power sales
and sales of power to other companies. The ordinary revenues increased 2.6% from
the same term of the previous year to 2,704.7 billion yen (non-consolidated figure
increased 2.8% from the same term of the previous year to 2,565.6 billion yen).

The ordinary expenses increased 6.0% from the same term of the previous year to
2,490.7 billion yen (non-consolidated figure increased 5.8% from the same term of
the previous year to 2,379.6 billion yen) due to the substantial increase in fuel
cost and electricity purchase expenses caused by the shutdown of the station, in
spite of the decrease in personnel expenditure caused by reexamining the corporate
pension plan.
