Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of June 5th)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works and 
nonconformances at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after 
the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake.  

Inspection/Restoration Status

 ○ Inspection and restoration completed between May 30th to June 5th, 2008  
    (Completed on the following date) 

   • Unit No.1 Fuel and control rod inspection (visual inspection of fuels): 
        May 30th 
   • Unit No.1 Fuel and control rod inspection (visual inspection of channel box): 
        May 30th 
   • Unit No.2 Main transformer inspection (on-site transportation): 
        June 3rd 
   • Unit No.3 Main transformer inspection (preparation for transportation into the factory): 
        June 4th 
   • Unit No.3 Main transformer inspection (on-site transportation): 
        To be completed on June 5th 
   • Unit No.3 Main exhaust duct inspection and restoration (survey prior to restoration work): 
        May 30th 
   • Unit No.4 Stack inspection (detailed inspection for top of stack):

  Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection 
  and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo 
  Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing 
  incidents information reported from May 29th to June 4th, 2008.

○ Other Findings • Unit No.6 Visual inspection and non-destructive inspection for forks of rotor blades on the 14th stage of the low-pressure turbine (A), (B) and (C) and forks of rotor blades on the 15th and 16th stage of the low-pressure turbine (B) are going on (announced on May 15th, 2008). Visual inspection was conducted for forks of 304 rotor blades on the 14th stage of the low-pressure turbine (B) (152 blades each on generator-side and turbine-side). As a result, no damage was found. Additionally, non-destructive investigation resulted in indications in the forks of 28 rotor blades on the generator-side and 63 rotor blades on the turbine-side. Subsequently, investigation on the cause of the damages and indications will be continued as well as visual and non-destructive inspection for forks of rotor blades on the 14th stage of the low-pressure turbine (A) and (C) and forks of rotor blades on the 15th and 16th stages of the low-pressure turbine (B), and non-destructive inspection for fixtures of rotor fork of the 14th stage of low-pressure turbine.
