Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of November 27th)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works and nonconformances 
at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake.

We sincerely apologize for causing anxiety to local residents due to the fire that 
broke out at the turbine building of TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa NPS Unit No.7. 
The fire headquarters of Kashiwazaki City has instructed TEPCO in written form to 
revamp our efforts to prevent fire hazards from happening.
We deeply regret the fire incident and humbly accept the instruction from the fire 
headquarters of Kashiwazaki City. We will do our best to prevent recurrence of events 
together with cooperating companies. 
We acknowledge that safety comes first in works at the site and will conduct each 
work with utmost care taken to secure safety.

Inspection/Restoration Status

 ○ Inspection and restoration completed between November 21st to November 27th, 2008 
    (Completed on the following date) 

   • Unit No.1 House transformer inspection (1A and 1B Transportation into the factory):
      November 24th 
   • Unit No.2 Excitation transformer inspection (Transportation into the factory): 
      November 24th 
   • Unit No.4 Stack inspection (Inspection of stack radiation monitor sampling pipe): 
      November 20th*

 ○ Inspection and restoration to be commenced between November 28th to December 4th, 2008 
    (To be commenced on the following date) 

   • Unit No.3 Seismic reinforcement works (Seismic reinforcement works for the roof truss 
     of the reactor building) : 
      November 27th*
   • Unit No.7 Reactor containment vessel closure: 
      November 29th 
   • Unit No.7 System functional test (Functional test of control rod drive mechanism): 
      November 24th* 
   • Unit No.7 System functional test (Functional test of control rod drive system): 
      November 28th 
   • Unit No.7 System functional test (Reactor containment vessel leak-rate inspection):
      December 4th 
   • On-site check, inspection and restoration of the oil protection bank for the transformer 
     (Unit No.4 Restoration work): 
      December 1st 
   • Restoration work of filtrate tank and demineralized tank on Arahama-side (Preparation 
     for restoration work of No.1 filtrate tank and demineralized tank)
      December 2nd
