Press Release (May 11,2011)
Possibility of leakage of radioactive water off the site near the water intake canal of Unit 3 of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (continued report)
At around 12:30 pm today, a worker, who was in charge of blockage work of
the pit*, has found water was flowing into the pit near the water intake
canal of Unit 3 through the pipe for electrical cables.
Now we are investigating the possibility of the leakage of radioactive
water off the site and sampling water inside the pit and sea water of
water intake canal of Unit 3 and analyzing at Fukushima Daini Nuclear
Power Station.

We are planning to take a countermeasure to stop the inflow of water into
the pit.
                                                   (Previously announced)

As a result of investigation, outflow of the water from the pit to sea was
found at around 4:05pm.

We inserted fabrics to the conduit line leading to the pit and filled
concrete inside the pit. After that, we confirmed that outflow was stopped
at 6:45pm today.
We will monitor the condition of water stop and, will also investigate sea
water sampled at the water intake canal of Unit3 as well as the route of
inflow and outflow and their condition.
