Regarding the Status of Temporary Payments for Losses Caused by the Nuclear Accident
We sincerely apologize to the general public for the anxiety and inconvenience 
caused by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident.
We would like to make an announcement today regarding the previously announced 
temporary compensation payments for the losses caused by the nuclear accident.

1.Temporary Payments for Persons Engaged in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery
  Per a government decision made on May 12th, discussions were held with 
  relevant organizations concerning the necessary immediate compensation for 
  those persons engaged in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery industry who 
  suffered losses. As preliminary discussions have been concluded for a 
  portion of the compensation claims received by the relevant Agriculture and 
  Fishery Associations concerning losses incurred by those engaged in 
  Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery connected to Government Shipment Limitation 
  Instructions*1, we will begin making compensation payments from 
  today.

  We request that related organizations group all compensation claims into one 
  when submitting, but for those persons engaged in Agriculture, Forestry and 
  Fishery who would prefer to file claims independently, fill in the 
  "Application Form of Temporary Compensation Payment", attach the Necessary 
  Documents*2 and then send them to us.

  *1 Losses Related to the Governmental Shipment Limitation Instruction:
     Business losses caused by governmental shipment limitation instructions 
     or local government restrictions related to those business items that 
     fall under the "Regarding the loss related to the fifth governmental 
     shipment limitation instruction" in the "Primary Guideline for judgment 
     the extent of nuclear damage caused by the accident in Fukushima Daiichi 
     and Daini Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company, 
     Incorporated"
  *2 Necessary Documents: Certification as Agriculture and Forestry 
     business, Certification as Agriculture noted on Agriculture Land Basic 
     Register, Cultivation Certification, others[documents related to 
     volume and amount of shipment], Certification as Fishery business, 
     Fishery Permit,Others[Fishing boat register, documents related to 
     amount of fish catches], etc.

2.Temporary Payments for persons engaged in small and medium-sized businesses
  For business losses incurred by persons who own small and medium sized 
  businesses located in the Evacuation Area*3, although we considered 
  providing temporary compensation payments per a government mandate issued 
  on May 12, a discussion with related organizations led to to the creation 
  of the following procedures:

 (1)Specific Claim Measures
    First, we ask that you fill in an "Application Form of Temporary 
    Compensation Payment" designated for persons independently engaged in 
    small and medium sized businesses and attach the Necessary Documents*4, 
    to be sent to us.  Otherwise, send the related applications to those 
    relevant business organizations who are responsible for small and 
    medium-sized businesses.  They will in turn group those applications 
    into one and send them to us.

   We will begin receiving requests for the "Application Form of Temporary 
   Compensation Payment" from June 1st.

 (2)Specific Contents of Temporary Payments
    We will verify the contents of the applications sent to us from small 
    and medium-sized businesses or related organizations and make payment 
    for half of the Equivalent to Gross Margin*5 in the period from March 
    12 to the end of May (Upper limit is 2,500,000 Yen). For business 
    persons unable to prepare the Necessary Documentation*4, based on the 
   "Verification Documents of Actual Business"*6, we will make a payment 
    of 200,000 yen as temporary compensation to persons who engaged in 
    small and medium-sized businesses.

    After June, the subsequent following steps will be adhered to taking 
    into account other situations.

 *3 Evacuation Area: The evacuation area designated by government 
    instructions according to the "Regarding the loss related to the third 
    governmental evacuation instruction" in the "Primary Guideline for 
    judgment the extent of nuclear damage caused by the accident in Fukushima 
    Daiichi and Daini Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company, 
    Incorporated"
 *4 Necessary Documents:Audited statement of accounts or final return 
    including other attached documentation
 *5 Equivalent to Gross Margin: The amount, which is calculated based on 
    actual past gross margins (Sales subtracted by cost of goods and sales)
 *6 Verification Documents of Actual Business: Verification Documents, 
    which shows business track record in the evacuation area as of March 12, 
    2011.

3.Temporary Compensation for Evacuees(as of May 31)
  Regarding temporary compensation for persons who were evacuated based on 
  the Act on Special Measures Concerning Nuclear Emergency Preparedness 
  (announced on April 15), we completed payment for approximately 50,000 
  households. We continue to dedicate our utmost efforts to promptly complete 
  remaining payments.

  Under the Nuclear Compensation System and with the support of our government, 
  we intend to handle the provision of compensation in a fair and prompt 
  manner in compliance with instructions released today from the National 
  Committee for Compensation Disputes due to the Nuclear Power Accident.
