Submission of Reports about the study regarding current earthquake-proof safety and reinforcement of reactor buildings at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station to Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (3)
On April 13, 2011, we received a written instruction (*) "Collection of 
report pursuant to the Provisions of Article 67, paragraph 1 of the Act on 
Regulation of Nuclear Source Materials, Nuclear Fuel Materials and 
Reactors" from Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, Ministry of Economy, 
Trade and Industry. We implemented study regarding current earthquake-proof 
safety and reinforcement of reactor building for Unit1 and 4 at Fukushima 
Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, and summarized the results. On May 28, 2011, 
we reported the result to the Agency.
               (Previously announced on April 13, May 28 and July 13, 2011)

Thereafter, based on the instruction, we implemented study regarding 
current earthquake-proof safety and reinforcement of reactor building for 
Unit2, Unit5 and Unit6 at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, and 
summarized the results. We have reported the results to the Agency today.

Regarding Collection of a Report Pursuant to the Provisions of Article 67, 
paragraph 1 of the Act on Regulation of Nuclear Source Materials, Nuclear 
Fuel Materials and Reactors

The ministry orders your company to submit a report on the items listed 
below, pursuant to the provisions of Article 67, paragraph 1 of the Act on 
Regulation of Nuclear Source Materials, Nuclear Fuel Materials and Reactors 
(Act No. 166 of 1957).
If there are grievances regarding this action, pursuant to the provisions 
of Article 6 of the Administrative Appeal Act (Act No. 160 of 1962), an 
administrative appeal may be made, in writing, to the Minister of Economy, 
Trade and Industry within 60 days from the date one day after the day on 
which your company became aware of the fact that this disposition was made. 
However, no administrative appeals may be made when a period of one year 
has elapsed from the date one day after the date of this disposition, even 
if it is within 60 days from the date one day after the day on which your 
company became aware of the fact that this disposition was made.

                               Required Items

· Results of seismic safety assessments, using the seismic ground motion of 
 a possible future earthquake, implemented on the reactor buildings that 
 are indirectly supporting structures of the primary containment vessels, 
 the reactor pressure vessels and the spent fuel storage pools, which are 
 the system, structure and components important to seismic safety at 
 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

· Results of an examination of measures such as engineering works for 
 seismic reinforcement on sections that seismic safety may not be able to 
 be secured for under the current state of the reactor building.
