Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Apr 07, 2013)Water Leak from the Underground Reservoirs in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Follow-up Information No.13)

This is follow-up information regarding the water leak from the underground reservoirs at Fukushima Daiichi NPS.

We conducted additional nuclide analysis of the leakage detector hole water (southwest side) and the drain hole water (southwest side) at the Underground Reservoir 3, which locates next to the east side of the Underground Reservoir 2 (previously announced).
The analyzed results are as follows.

Approximately the same amounts of chloride and all β nuclide as the previous analysis results were detected.
There is no water level decrease at the Underground Reservoir 3, where monitoring is strengthened. We will continue to strengthen monitoring and review countermeasures for this incident.

[Underground Reservoir No.3: Drain hole water, southwest side (sampled at 3:15AM, April 7)]
[Results]
-Chloride concentration: Below 1ppm
-I-131: N.D(Below detection limit)( Detection limit:2.6×10^-2 Bq/cm3)
-Cs-134: N.D(Detection limit:5.8×10^-2 Bq/cm3)
-Cs-137: N.D(Detection limit:6.9×10^-2 Bq/cm3)
-All β: 4.5×10^-2 Bq/cm3(Detection limit: 3.2×10^-2 Bq/cm3)

[Underground Reservoir No.3: Leakage detector hole water, southwest side (sampled at 3:45AM, April 7)]
[Results]
-Chloride concentration: 380ppm
-I-131: N.D ( Detection limit:5.1×10^-2 Bq/cm3)
-Cs-134: N.D(Detection limit:6.2×10^-2 Bq/cm3)
-Cs-137: N.D(Detection limit:8.0×10^-2 Bq/cm3)
-All β: 2.2×10^3 Bq/cm3(Detection limit: 3.2×10^0 Bq/cm3)

The results will be explained at the provisional press conference held from 10:00AM.
