Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Aug 21, 2013)Water Leak at a Tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Follow-up Information 9 and Correction)

This is follow-up information on the "water leak at a tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station" found on August 19.

We would like to announce analysis results on seawater near the exit of the drainage channel of the south water outlet and water at the junction of the drainage channels B and C near the H4 area (previously referred to as "water of the side ditch in front of the core warehouse"), sampled today (on August 21), as follows.

No remarkable change was found in these latest analysis results compared to the previous analysis results on the samples taken yesterday (on August 20).

<Seawater near the south water outlet (near the exit of the drainage channel) (sampling performed at 12:30 PM on August 21)>
Cesium-134: Below the detection limit value [the detection limit value: 1.1Bq/L (1.1×10-3Bq/cm3)]
Cesium-137: 2.2Bq/L (2.2×10-3Bq/cm3)
All β: Below the detection limit value [the detection limit value: 17Bq/L (1.7×10-2Bq/cm3)]

<Water at the junction of the drainage channels B and C near the H4 area (sampling performed at 12:50 PM on August 21)>
Cesium-134: Below the detection limit value [the detection limit value: 18Bq/L (1.8×10-2Bq/cm3)]
Cesium-137: Below the detection limit value [the detection limit value: 25Bq/L (2.5×10-2Bq/cm3)]
All β: 140Bq/L (1.4×10-1Bq/cm3)

We are to continuously conduct analysis tomorrow on seawater of the south water outlet (near the exit of the drainage channel) and water at the Junction of the drainage channels B and C near the H4 area.

For the past sampling results, please refer to the following page on our website:

Here, we would like to make one correction in our previous answer we gave in the press conference in response to a question about the number of drain valves at the concrete dike for the H4 area tanks where the leakage occurred.

In the previous press conferences, we said, in response to questions from the media about the number of drain valves at the concrete dike for the H4 area tanks, that the number is 23. However, the correct number is 24, as illustrated in the reference material dated August 20. We apologize for the mistake.
