Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report 2013

Fukushima Daiichi NPS Prompt Report (Aug 31, 2013)Water Leak at a Tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (Follow-up Information 17)

This is follow-up information on the "water leak at a tank in the H4 area in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station" found on August 19.

We would like to announce radioactivity density analysis results on seawater near the exit of the drainage channel of the south water outlet, water in the drainage channel B near Fureai Intersection (upstream in the drainage channel B), water in the drainage channel C near the main gate (upstream in the drainage channel C), water at the junction of the drainage channels B and C near the H4 area (previously referred to as "water of the side ditch in front of the core warehouse") and water at the drainage channel C OP. 30m exit (downstream of the junction of the drainage channels B and C), sampled yesterday (on August 30), as follows.

This time, no remarkable change was found in the analysis results on seawater near the exit of the drainage channel of the south water outlet and water at the junction of the drainage channels B and C near the H4 area, compared to the previous analysis results on the samples taken previously (on August 29).

In order to investigate whether and how water leaked from the H4 area tank has flowed out into the ocean, we conducted radioactivity density analysis on water at the 3 new locations, i.e., in the drainage channel B near Fureai Intersection, the drainage channel C near the main gate, and the drainage channel C OP. 30m exit, for the first time. We will monitor the trends and evaluate analysis results in these locations just as we have done so far in the other locations.
