Press Release (Jun 16, 2017)Submission of amended application to NRA for Units 6 and 7 of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station

On September 27, 2013, we submitted an application to the NRA to check the conformity Units 6 and 7 at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station to the New Regulatory Requirements.

Today we submitted an amended application for a reactor installment alternation license to the Nuclear Regulation Authority. The submission of this amendment is imperative for the NRA to objectively assess the safety improvement measures implemented at Units 6 and 7. We also submitted the results of examination documents as instructed in a special meeting of the NRA on February 28 this year.

We improved the quality and reliability of examination documents through enhancement of organization activities, such as checking the status of competitors, having other departments in TEPCO review examination documents, and through enhancement of information sharing by holding meetings to connect all levels of the organization.

We will continue to respond sincerely to the review by the Nuclear Regulation Authority and to improve the safety and reliability of the nuclear power station by leveraging lessons from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear accident.
