Closing your account

Q.
I'm moving out of my old residence and moving into my new residence on different days. Can I arrange electricity services around this?
A.
The days on which electricity services are terminated at your old residence and commenced at your new residence do not have to be the same. Simply let us know the appropriate days when you submit the application. Your electricity bills for that month will be calculated on a per diem basis.
Q.
When preparing to move, I threw out all my electricity consumption notices so I don't know my customer number. Can I still arrange to transfer electricity services?
A.
Yes, but not over the Internet. If you don't know your customer number, please call your local TEPCO Customer Center.
Q.
I was told that my final electricity bill for my old residence will be sent to my new residence. When will it arrive?
A.
Approximately one week after closing your account at your old residence.
Q.
I was told that my final electricity bill for my old residence will be automatically deducted from my usual bank account. When will it be deducted?
A.
Approximately two weeks after closing your account at your old residence. Please do not close your bank account before the deduction is made.
Q.
I would like electricity charges for my new residence to be deducted from a different bank account than the one currently used. How can I make these arrangements?
A.
You will need to submit a new automatic deduction application. A special form is required for this, so please call your local TEPCO Customer Center. Alternatively, you may use either of the following methods.
  • If you use Internet banking services, we will not have to send you a form, meaning you can complete the application quickly.
  • Otherwise, go to the banks and post offices you wish to use and fill out an automatic deduction application form there. This is also a relatively fast method.
Please note that it may take about one month to complete the procedures from the time you submit your application form. Once the procedure is complete, we will let you know by postcard.
