Status of the Inspection and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake (as of July 31st)
We are announcing the status of major inspections and restoration works and 
nonconformances at TEPCO's Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station after 
the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake. 

Inspection/Restoration Status

 ○ Inspection and restoration completed between July 25th to July 31st, 2008 
    (Completed on the following date) 

  • Unit No.2 Core shroud inspection: 
     July 28th 
  • Unit No.4 Inspection of new fuel storage warehouse and new fuels in the warehouse 
    (Inspection of new fuels): 
     July 28th 

 ○ Inspection and restoration to be commenced between August 1st to August 7th, 2008 
    (To be commenced on the following date) 

  • Unit No.1 Main exhaust duct inspection and restoration (Preparation for restoration 
    work): 
     August 1st 
  • Unit No.2 Main exhaust duct inspection and restoration (Preparation for restoration 
    work): 
     August 1st 
  • Unit No.3 Main generator inspection (Rotor carrying):

  Based on the "Public Announcement Regarding Nonconformance Found in the Inspection 
  and Restoration Works Performed after the Niigata-Chuetsu-Oki Earthquake", the Tokyo 
  Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO) provides this announcement containing 
  incidents information reported from July 24th to July 30th, 2008.

○ Other Findings • Unit No.6 and Unit No.7 Inspections for forks of rotor blades on the 14th, 15th and 16th stage of low-pressure turbine (A) (B) and (C) were completed on July 28th, 2008. The results are as follows.
Reports from July 17 to July 23, 2008
• Unit No.6 As part of safety integrity verification of the reactor pressure vessel, pressure/leakage test was conducted on July 17, 2008 by increasing the pressure to about 3.5 MPa-half of that during normal operation. The test showed no abnormality. Leak-rate test of the containment vessel was conducted from July 25th to July 26th, 2008 to confirm its leak-tightness. As a result, no abnormality was found.
