Recovery of Unit 4-2 at Futtsu Thermal Power Station Unit 4-2 at Futtsu Thermal Power Station (Operational commencement: November 10, 2009, output power: 507MW, fuel: LNG) which has been suspended after a temperature increase of gas turbine exhaust gas was confirmed on August 29, 2012 has restarted power generation at 9:49 AM on March 9 as the repair work had been completed. The power generated by the unit is included in the supply capacity during today's peak hour. The cause of the exhaust gas temperature increase was identified to be the reduced amount of air for compustion due to partial damage on the air compressor blades of the gas turbine. The damaged blades have been repaired/replaced.

The restoration of Unit 5 at Hirono Thermal Power Station
Unit 5 at Hirono Thermal Power Station has restarted its operation at 8:12 on February 27 since it has been suspended on January 20, 2013 after a steam leakage from the tube inside the boiler (a thin metal tube of which its diameter is about 5cm) was suspected. Operation was started after repairing the damaged part and inspecting the surrounding.
The thin tube damage is estimated to be caused by the overheating due to an obstruction of the thin metal tube of the superheater inside the boiler followed by the loss of the flowing steam volume. * Superheater is a facility installed in a boiler and generates high temperature and high pressure steam.

Recovery of Unit 3-1 at Chiba Thermal Power Station
Unit 3-1 at Chiba Thermal Power Station (Operational commencement: August 28, 2011, output: 334MW, gas turbine), which has been suspended and under open inspection since an alarm indicating the vibration of the gas turbine bearing being too large went off on August 8, 2012, has started operation at 9:30 AM today as the repair of the damaged part had been completed. The power to be generated is included in today's supply capacity during peak hours. The cause of the incident has been identified to be reduced tightening force of the nut (tightening the bolt which fixes the air compressor blades) due to heat deformation. Measures such as partial modification of the equipment to allow for increased amount of cooling air in the area surrounding the nut have been implemented.
