Removal began at Unit 1 in January 2018. Going forward, a large cover will be built over the entire building from underneath which rubble, the ceiling crane and the fuel handling machine will be removed through an opening on the south side of the operating floor.
At Unit 2 preparations are being made to construct a fuel removal platform (work platform/anticum) on the south side of the building.
At Unit 3, fuel removal was completed in February 2021.
At Unit 4, fuel removal was completed in December 2014.
At Units 5 and 6 fuel is being stored in the spent fuel pool.
We plan to remove all the fuel being stored at Units 1~6 by the end of 2031.
