On October 18, the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, Norihisa Tamura, visited the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

The Minister, was given a good look at decommissioning efforts underway from high ground on the west side of Units 1~4, and was also shown additionally installed multi-nuclide removal equipment (ALPS), and the Unit 4 operation floor, etc.

During the tour, Minister Tamura said, "Seven years have passed since my last visit, and I can see that the situation has changed significantly in comparison. Radiation levels have decreased, progress has been made with the removal of rubble, and the work environment has improved." After the tour, the Minister also said, "Since guidelines were given by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, there have been no accidents involving fatalities, and injuries have decreased. I can see that labor safety and health are being excellently managed. I'd like to see you continue to strictly manage the health of workers, including exposure doses."

TEPCO will continue to move steadily and safely forward with the long-term decommissioning process with the understanding and cooperation of society.
