~Acquiring a "Green Power Certificate" for Electricity Used to Power Electric Work Vehicles~

June 1, 2021

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc.

Today, TEPCO HD signed an agreement with Japan Natural Energy Co., Ltd. *1 concerning the acquisition of a Green Power Certificate*2 for the power used to run the TEPCO Group's electric work vehicles (EV/PHEV).

The TEPCO Group is proactively engaged in initiatives to create a carbon-free society through the electrification of the transportation sector, and has joined the international EV100*3 initiative that aims to eliminate emissions from vehicles (announced on May 28, 2019). As part of this initiative the TEPCO Group aims to replace 100% of its work vehicles (approximately 3,800 vehicles) with electric vehicles by FY2030 (excluding emergency and specialized construction vehicles, etc.).
In order to further contribute to decarbonization, this agreement will enable the TEPCO Group to acquire a Green Power Certificate for the power needed to run its electric vehicles. In FY2020, approximately 140,000kWh of electricity used to power our electric vehicles was derived from renewable energy sources.

Through the activities of our Electric Vehicle Promotion Consortium (announced on May 11, 2020 <Japanese only>), TEPCO is promoting the use and spread of EV for work vehicles thereby contributing to reducing CO2 emissions in the domestic transportation sector and the creation of a sustainable society.
