DO NOT Approach Severed Electric Lines After a Typhoon!

Typhoons can cause electric lines to fall and come into contact with trees, signs, antennas, or other objects. This is extremely dangerous. Under no circumstances should you approach a severed electric line or any object that is in contact with it.
If you find a severed electric line, please contact TEPCO immediately.
After the typhoon has passed, you may hear a buzzing sound from transmission towers or see small sparks. This phenomenon mainly occurs in coastal areas. Under conditions of high humidity—particularly after a typhoon—salt in the air and dust adhere to the insulators on transmission towers or electric lines, causing localized electrical discharge (partial discharge).

Some areas are currently experiencing power outages due to the effects of the typhoon.
If power has been restored in the surrounding area but your property remains without electricity, the cause may be damage to low-voltage distribution lines (100V/200V), the service line connecting your property to the distribution network, or electrical equipment within the building.
